Blind Bag Checklist

It may seem like a distant memory, but waterfowl season will be back before we know it. As you gear up for the season, make sure you have these essentials packed and ready to go in your blind bag:

Calls on a lanyard: Keep your calls handy without losing one every time you shoot

Plenty of ammo: It’s better to have too many shotgun shells than not enough

Duck strap: Plan for success

Hand warmers: Weather can be unpredictable, and it’s important to keep your trigger finger from freezing

Extra gloves: Again, you don’t want cold hands, and gloves are easy to lose

Zip ties: They’ve got about as many uses as duct tape in the field

Knife multi-tool: Never head into the field without a knife

Face mask: Keep your face warm, concealed, and blocked from bugs

Headlamp: You’re bound to need a bit of light when you trip or drop a shell

Extra choke tubes and a wrench: Don’t get stuck in a bind when birds aren’t doing what you expect

Bug spray: Depending on the conditions, pests could drive you crazy

Sunglasses: Unexpected sunshine could make it tough to see birds

First aid kit: Both you and your pup could get injured on any outing

Binos: A compact pair will help you identify birds without weighing your bad down

Ear Protection: A long morning of shooting can leave your ears ringing

Snacks: Keep your energy up with snack breaks

Thermos: What is waterfowl hunting without hot coffee?
