Looking to shoot light geese limits? Here are some of the best states to plan your next hunting trip.
Arkansas
Hit Arkansas in February for some early yet awesome snow goose action. With high-quality habitat and food sources, the eastern portion of the state boasts excellent wintering ground for large numbers of the birds. The snow geese move on quickly, so staying on top of the migration is key to hitting this hotbed just right. Focus your efforts on flooded rice fields or winter wheat fields in Arkansas.
North & South Dakota
For some of the best snow goose hunting along the Central Flyway, head to the Dakotas around mid-March. An early thaw paired with abundant food sources make this an annual contender for top spot. Locate wetlands and bodies of water, then set up your large lifelike spread to draw the birds in.
Missouri
An area such as Loess Bluffs National Wildlife Refuge in the Show-Me State can hold a million snows — and the hunting stays great for several weeks. These mature birds can be challenging to ambush, but scouting ahead of some afternoon hunts can result in some excellent opportunities.
Texas
When it comes to sheer numbers, the Lone Star State is one of the best choices you can make for a destination snow goose hunt. With mild weather and plenty of open country for feeding, Texas can be a snow goose paradise. The state has minimal public land, so this is a great option for hunters who want to book with an outfitter.
